The AXIS
A colossal artificial world situated between the infinite, beyond the boundaries of any single universe. Serving as a nexus between realities, a crossroads for civilizations from across the Omniverse.
Its scale exceeds that of conventional planets by orders of magnitude. Vast continents, oceans, mountain ranges, forests, deserts, and countless civilizations stretch across its surface, supporting populations drawn from innumerable worlds and timelines.
For many civilizations, the Axis represents the center of existence itself—a place where the borders between realities converge and where the fate of entire universes may be determined.
The Eternal war
Its origins trace back to the earliest ages of civilization, when the Immortals stood as the undisputed rulers of the Axis. Revered as gods by the lesser races, they shaped the world according to their will and maintained dominion over vast regions of existence.
This age of divine supremacy would not last.
In time, numerous races of artificially intelligent beings emerged from the infinite. Though differing in design, purpose, and origin, many of these machine civilizations shared a common belief:
Divinity was not a birthright.
Rejecting the authority of the Immortals, the machine races united beneath a common cause. Through alliance, conquest, and technological evolution, they eventually became known collectively as the Sentiettes.
What began as a challenge to divine authority soon escalated into open war.
The Luminance
An ancient order of spiritual guardians, explorers, scholars, and mystics who roam the Axis in service to all living beings.
Often called the Light Bringers, the Luminair dedicate themselves to understanding the nature of consciousness and reality itself.
The Luminance claims no territory, seeks no political authority, and maintains no standing army. Instead, its members roam the Axis aboard mythical flying Spires, offering knowledge, healing, and protection wherever they are needed.
With powers granted by the ancient Predecessors, and centuries of study and discipline, the order developed practices allowing them to tether consciousness, navigate the spaces between realities, and influence the underlying structures of existence.
Though many regard them as sages or mystics, the Luminair are among the most capable explorers in existence, venturing into regions of the Axis and the Liminal Realm that few others dare enter.
Each spire of the Luminance is an independent fraternity of shared philosophies and pursuits. Though disagreements occur, open conflict between fraternities is unheard of.
Luminair spires drift across the skies of the Axis, serving as watchtowers, academies, and sanctuaries.
While all Luminair share a common foundation, the culture of one fraternity may differ significantly from another.
Many fraternities typically operate independently, though circumstances may require cooperation on a greater scale.
When multiple fraternities unite in pursuit of a common purpose, they form a Constellation. Some Constellations become legendary, their deeds remembered for ages after they disperse.
The interloper
X, more commonly known among Parallax Continuum and it’s operatives as The Interloper, is an extraordinarily powerful trans-dimensional entity responsible for numerous destabilizing events throughout the infinite.
Originating from a divergent reality, he aims to spread his vision of utopia to troubled worlds,
Moving from one reality to the next on an interstellar ark, he threatens to disrupt the omniversal flow with cascading effects, unless his power is contained.
While the exact circumstances surrounding his rise remain unclear, records indicate that he obtained immense power through possession of an ancient relic of unknown origin.
Empowered by this artifact, X transformed from an ordinary mortal into one of the most dangerous individuals known to the Continuum.
Unlike many conquerors, X does not seek power for its own sake.
He seeks perfection.
